Boldness – in both colour and design – defines David Webb’s jewellery. The house was established in Manhattan in 1948 by a then 23-year-old Webb, after he gravitated to the bright lights of New York from his native North Carolina.

Soon Webb’s designs were being embraced by Hollywood and New York society alike, with Elizabeth Taylor, Jackie Kennedy, and Diana Vreeland among his clients. The jeweller was famed for his colourful, playful take on the animal jewellery that gained popularity in the 50’s, with graphic jewelled leopards, zebras, and monkeys among his collection. Webb also took inspiration from ancient adornments, combing the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s collection of Incan, Egyptian, Turkish, and Syrian jewellery for inspiration.
