Loquet London

Introduction

For firm friends, environmentalist Sheherazade Goldsmith and model and Vogue contributing editor Laura Bailey, there is something wonderfully romantic about the age-old tradition of keeping a precious memento safe inside a beautiful locket and wearing it close to the heart. It’s this shared love of lockets and precious keepsakes that led them to launch their debut jewellery line in 2013.

The idea to encase glass hearts and round forms in a gold frame and personalise them with an array of trinkets and charms first came to Sheherazade when her young son gifted her a Perspex heart with a dried flower inside. A course in jewellery design at Central Saint Martins quickly ensued and thanks to some pointers from Sheherazade’s Bond Street jeweller uncle, the duo’s desire to create the perfect locket could now be realised. Indeed the name ‘Loquet’ takes its cue from the French hinge mechanism, which forms the basis of each beautifully crafted piece.

Since its inception, Loquet London has grown to include rings, bracelets and earrings. Each piece is just waiting to be filled with novel Loquet keepsakes from healing stones to pink-sapphire encrusted rainbows, which the creative duo has designed for their clients to hold dear. For this pair of hopeless romantics, it is heart warming to know that each locket tells a unique story and that no two designs are ever alike.
