Pamela Love’s creations are deeply spiritual and intuitive. Astronomy, astrology, alchemy, botany, the American South West and the architecture of her hometown – New York City – all heavily influence the designer. But jewellery design was not the original career path that she chose. She first received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Experimental Film and Art Direction from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and then, after graduation, worked as an art director and painting assistant to the renowned painter Francesco Clemente.
In 2007, she began making jewellery in her Brooklyn apartment and today has a full production facility in her Manhattan studio. “There’s something so personal about jewellery,” she explains, claiming ear jackets as something she personally pioneered. “The connection between the wearer and the piece is powerful and emotional in a way that you don’t find with other mediums. Jewellery is something you keep forever and pass down to your children.”
Pamela has been nominated for many awards and most recently, in 2013, was the recipient of the CFDA Swarovski Award for Accessory Design. Also, over the years, the designer has collaborated with a wide range of acclaimed and emerging artists, designers and retail brands including Creatures of the Wind, Zadig & Voltaire and Opening Ceremony.
