#Auverturetalks – Sharing our passion for the art of fine Jewellery

Auverture was born from the idea of bringing together the best of creative fine jewellery, and to shine a light on jewellery designers whose creations have a distinctive point of view.

And now having built such a strong community of creatives, we want to harness the ideas of the thought leaders in our sphere, and share them with our followers and customers – especially at a time when the world is shifting and changing so profoundly.

So earlier this month, we began our Auverture Talks series. Hosted on our IGTV (Instagram TV), the series sees Auverture’s founder and curator Bibi van der Velden take part in conversations with inspiring figures within our industry. We launched the talks after seeing the surge of support among our clients and followers when we announced the Auverture Designer Fund in March, to support our independent designer community during the coronavirus crisis. Moved by this, we wanted to continue to foster a dialogue with our community.

Our first Auverture Talks guest was renowned author and fine jewellery specialist Joanna Hardy, who joined Bibi in a far-reaching discussion about what lies in store for the jewellery industry in this post-COVID-19 world. Bibi and Joanna discussed initiatives such as the Goldsmiths COVID-19 Fund, which has been set up to support individuals working in the UK jewellery industry during the coronavirus crisis, and how the Auverture Designer Fund is taking a similar approach. They also riffed on topics that spanned protecting jewellers’ original ideas, how relationships with clients are evolving in an increasingly digital world, and their shared fascination with vintage fine jewellery.

And last week we got a glimpse into Silvia Furmanovich’s world, in which the designer told Bibi about how she creates her signature marquetry jewellery crafted with Brazilian woods, how she believes clients will value craftsmanship even more after the current crisis, and the value of slowing down in design– alongside her plans to launch a new homewares line, crafted from bamboo.

We’re passionate about creating a space where our followers can delve deeper into the world of fine jewellery, and we envisage the Auverture Talks series as giving you more of an insight into both fine jewellery’s storied history and how it’s evolving for the future. At the same time, we want to illuminate our jewellers’ innovative techniques, and uncover how they each arrived at their unique aesthetic.

Discover now the full conversations on our IGTV. The Auverture Talks series will take place each Wednesday at 8pm CET. Follow us on Instagram to be part of our next talk, when Bibi will be in conversation with jewellery editor Annabel Davidson, and share in the artistry that lies behind fine jewellery.

Our ambition with Auverture United : make a long term impact in the fine jewellery industry

Auverture began in 2016 as an online destination for creative fine jewellery that celebrates individuality. At the time, we launched by gathering a community of 10 like-minded designers who shared that same vision and objective.   Four years later, as our beloved community of designers, customers, and followers has grown, our mission remains the same.
