Let’s talk about Monday night, when our incredibly talented designer Silvia Furmanovich and curator Bibi van der Velden joined us for a private dinner hosted for about 40 special guests in our Amsterdam gallery.
The day started with the Auverture and Bibi team transforming the studio into a tropical oasis for the dinner event with Silvia and Bibi. The tables were set with bold colours, unique flower arrangements, pieces of jewellery from Silvia’s collection as well as a beautiful projection in the entryway that showcased Silvia’s unique craft and snippets of nature.
Before the event unfolded the team also got the chance to listen to Silvia speaking about what inspire her, the amazing natural materials, marquetry and methods used to create her one of a kind works of art.
The inspiration for Silvia’s marquetry collection is the wonders of nature and what it has to offer. She has used pieces of wood from Amazon that is hand-worked in amazing detailed patterns by craftsmen in the region.
Her travels through India, Egypt, Japan and Italy play a big role in the age-old artisanal techniques used to create her designs and she is also very fascinated by miniature paintings that had been made for Rajasthan royalty. The precious stones and unique materials such as coral and woods make the experience with her jewellery extremely special
It was interesting to learn about the methods used to create the vibrant colours of her designs! The colouring is done with all natural materials.
Throughout the evening, our guests enjoyed a delicious three course Brazilian meal to honour Silvia’s native country with fresh caipirinhas served as drinks, ending the night with a tasty dessert of a spicy chili chocolate cake.
The atmosphere in the studio was vibrant and filled with guests admiring and trying on the beautifully displayed designs of Bibi and Silvia.
