Who says colour should be reserved for clothes? Designers from Marc Jacobs to Brandon Maxwell showcased jewellery in show-stopping hues as part of their spring 2020 collections, from sherbet-toned stones to bold, acrylic designs. In unapologetically saturated colours, this jewellery shines with optimism.

The Single Life

At once simple and dramatic, the single earring trend stalked the spring 2020 runways. From Prabal Gurung, to JW Anderson, to Oscar de la Renta, designers embraced the statement-making qualities of this asymmetric look.

Powerful Pearls

Auverture spring summer trends power of pearls

As a clutch of designers expressed in their spring summer 2020 collections, pearls can be both delicate and striking. Simone Rocha fashioned pearls into crowns, interspersed with metal spikes, while Tory Burch showcased natural-looking, baroque pearl earrings. With their perennial appeal, pearls conjure treasures found in the ocean’s depths, making them the perfect summer adornment.

Sophie Bille Brahe has made pearls her signature, creating designs that put a twist on this classic stone. This Peggy Pearl Necklace is designed as a row of pearls of graduating sizes, with a 14k gold orb punctuating the luminous stones.

Statement hoops

Hoops infuse your look with a carefree glamour, with labels from Versace to Proenza Schouler embracing this head-turning trend. They sent out hoops in designs that spanned earrings fashioned in plain, polished gold, to others heavily embellished with pearls or shells.

Animal Magnetism

Animal motif jewellery was in full effect on the spring summer runways. There were scorpion collars at Balmain, while fish charms adorned the necklaces that accessorized Dior’s 70’s-influenced collection, and jewelled monkeys were worn as brooches in Erdem’s opulent show. An aesthetic that rose to prominence during the Art Deco period, when designs such as Cartier’s Panthère collection were born, animal jewellery is said to bring luck to the wearer.

Natural Selection

Auverture spring summer jewellery trends natural selection

Spring brings with it the lure of the great outdoors. So it’s no surprise that designers embraced natural motifs and organic shapes in their spring summer 2020 jewellery. Prada turned out layered necklaces composed of scores of pearls and shells, while at Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood seashells were worn as headbands, with these designs celebrating nature’s unadorned beauty.
