Which jewellery suits you best?

With so many pieces to pick from, and so many designers to discover, it can be tough to find luxury fine jewellery that is right for you.  There’s an array of different types of jewellery out there, and a large variety of metals, and precious and semi-precious stones being used. Combine that with an infinite combination of skin, hair, and eye colours and it’s hard to know where to even start.

We suggest following the advice of Jewellery designer Charlotte Blakeney. In a recent interview with Grazia, Australia she offers her top tips for choosing jewellery that brings out the best in you. The good news is, it’s all based on… well… you! We’ve taken the liberty of not only sharing Charlotte’s advice below but also putting it into practice, selecting two of our favourite Auverture pieces to help you get to grips with every tip. Read on for more…

FAIR SKIN WITH RED UNDERTONES

Blakeney says that those with fair skin with red undertones should steer clear of rose gold, as it will simply highlight the redness of your skin. On the other hand, silver can look ‘fresh’ on light skin especially if you have blonde or light hair. We suggest:

LION FAMILY RING By Bibi van der Velden

LION FAMILY RING by Bibi van der Velden– €9,635

CASSEUS SG EARRINGS By Spinelli Kilcollin

CASSEUS SG EARRINGS by Spinelli Kilcollin– €1,660

FAIR SKIN WITH PALE UNDERTONES

If you’re fair with pale undertones, Blakeney says that 14k yellow gold is better than 18k. White gold and silver are both beautiful options and will always draw the eye when worn against very pale skin. We like:

SATURN HOOPS WHITE GOLD By Alina Abegg

SATURN HOOPS WHITE GOLD by Alina Abegg– €4,740

LIGHT TO MEDIUM SKIN

Gold – particularly rose gold – can really do wonders on light to medium tones. Blakeney suggests is “brings out a softness”. Our top picks:SELF PORTRAIT EARRINGS By Gaelle KhouriSELF PORTRAIT EARRINGS by Gaelle Khouri- €5,600

COCKTAIL RING By Tomasz Donocik

COCKTAIL RING by Tomasz Donocik– €3,510

Lightly tanned OR olive skin

These are the lucky ones. Any metal will look striking on those with olive skin tones – from rose gold, to yellow, and white gold to silver. Enjoy the full spectrum of metal colours available to you! We recommend:

Zoom GREEN CONKER SEED CHARM By Annoushka

GREEN CONKER SEED CHARM by Annoushka– €9,800

BIG TULIP RING DIAMONDS By Bibi van der Velden

BIG TULIP RING DIAMONDS by Bibi van der Velden– €25,000

DARK SKIN

Silver tends to lost and forgotten on dark skin, Blakeney says. It can depend on the piece of course, but anything delicate and fine can struggle to attract attention. Gold is the ideal choice for black, brown and dark skin tones. Ones to try:

WHITE DIAMOND RING By Ara Vartanian

WHITE DIAMOND RING by Ara Vartanian– €3,700

TOURMALINE PLATE AND WHITE DIAMONDS DANGLING DETAILS CHAIN NECKLACE By Celine Daoust

Our ambition with Auverture United : make a long term impact in the fine jewellery industry

Auverture began in 2016 as an online destination for creative fine jewellery that celebrates individuality. At the time, we launched by gathering a community of 10 like-minded designers who shared that same vision and objective.   Four years later, as our beloved community of designers, customers, and followers has grown, our mission remains the same.
