Life & Arts
Monique Péan is an award-winning American fine jewellery designer who is based in SoHo in New York City. Her route into fine jewellery was a circuitous one. Raised in the Washington D.C. area she received her B.A. in Philosophy, Political Science and Economics from the University of Pennsylvania before launching her eponymous fine jewellery collection in 2006. Most of all, the designer has become best known for bold, one-of-a-kind, Art Deco influenced designs that take on abstract, geometric shapes. She also works with intriguing, rare materials that include sustainable fossilised walrus ivory, dinosaur bone and woolly mammoth and even meteorite.
Monique Péan’s jewellery has a beautiful, strong geometry to it. She works those bold shapes from plenty of unexpected materials, among them fossilised dinosaur bone, spectrolite - a variety of labradorite - and blue lepidolite. Here, get a glimpse behind the scenes at one of the designer’s look book shoots, and watch her stunning designs in motion.
