Life & Arts
Dividing her time between Paris, New York and trips to India, Sara’s style is imbued with global influences and natural beauty. Her New York apartment is dotted with pieces of coral, shells and even sharks’ bones, to allow some of that coastal energy into the city. Her jewellery’s organic charm has also captured the attention of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, which has named Dezso as one of its incubator brands, in an initiative that aims to support the next generation of designers. The designer chiefly works in 18ct rose and yellow gold, and fashions her collections to highlight the organic shapes of the one-of-a-kind stones that she finds, be they natural polki diamonds or talismanic shark’s teeth.
For Sara Beltrán, inspiration begins at the sea. The globe-trotting designer spends her time travelling between the shores of Morocco, Mexico, Croatia and Greece, sourcing materials and ideas for her line of sumptuous, elegant jewellery that draws on natural materials, called Dezso. The El Paso, Texas-born, Mexico-raised designer now divides her time between homes in Paris and New York – between travels, at least. She also spends time in Jaipur, India, where she finds the exotic stones that she crafts into her inventive jewellery.
