Spinelli Kilcollin is a jewellery collection created by Yves Spinelli and his artist partner Dwyer Kilcollin, which initially stemmed from Yves’ inspiration to create a line of “clean and architectural” jewellery. The duo launched the collection in 2010 with their Galaxy Rings, which have become a signature of the house.
The Galaxy design is formed of interlinking rings, which are joined by connecting elements and appear “stacked” on the wearer’s finger. Elegant and modern, the rings cemented the duo’s place on the fine jewellery scene, and today are rendered in materials from sterling silver to 18 karat yellow gold, with some pieces in the collection threaded with smaller annulets, studded with colorful, precious stones.
Describing the brand’s aesthetic as “contemporary and minimalist,” both Yves and Dwyer draw on their creative backgrounds in their designs. Dwyer studied at the Washington University in St. Louis and the Roski School of Art and Design, University of Southern California, and as an artist creates often organic-looking sculptures that fuse the digital and the hand-made. Spinelli, meanwhile, was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to hairdresser parents, and began his career working at the famed Los Angeles boutique Max Field, where he first had the idea to start his own jewellery collection.
Alongside the duo’s original collection of Galaxy Rings, the collection boasts bracelets, necklaces, and earrings, many of which riff on circular forms. Standout pieces include the Alexa earrings, designed as a series of interlinking rings that drop from the ears, with one design in 18 karat yellow gold and white pavé diamonds. And the Ursula bracelet echoes the interlinked design of the Galaxy Rings, fashioned in finely crafted silver to be worn on the wrist.
Undeniably cool yet with a distinctive sense of occasion, Spinelli Kilcollin are bringing a unique, modern twist to fine jewellery.
